The Whelen FlatLighter™ is a compact interior warning light designed for public-safety, emergency-response, utility, and specialty vehicles. Its slim visor-mounted design allows the warning light to remain discreet inside the vehicle while providing strong forward-facing visibility when activated, making it particularly useful for marked and unmarked law-enforcement vehicles, volunteer responders, and other applications where a low-profile installation is preferred.
FlatLighter uses two epoxy-encapsulated 4" × 3" LED panels equipped with Whelen’s 400 Series high-intensity 5mm LED optics. The two panels can operate with alternating or simultaneous flash patterns, providing a broad warning footprint across the upper windshield area.
Integrated SmartLED® electronics eliminate the need for an external flasher, ballast, or separate power supply. The system includes 21 Scan-Lock™ flash patterns, allowing the warning sequence to be adjusted to match the vehicle and operating environment.
Installation is straightforward using the included Velcro visor mounting straps and 8-foot power cord with cigar plug. Whelen also notes that the FlatLighter is designed for interior use with airbag-compatible safety considerations, making it a practical option where traditional dash-mounted or exterior warning equipment may not be ideal.
